Science Honours Program
The Science Honours program is an extension/extra-curricular program that aims to inspire and provide further opportunities for interested science students.
The program includes four Honours Lectures over the year. Each term GNGC Science Faculty invite a notable guest speaker to present their research. These guests have included Nobel Laureate Brian Schmidt, world renowned ecologist Professor Charles Krebs and Larry James the Deputy Director Jet Propulsion Laboratory at NASA.
Another aspect of the program is participation in the external Science competitions such as the ICAS Science Competition and if you are studying Chemistry the National Chemistry Quiz.
Other activities include CSIRO CREST, in which one of our past students received the Gold award for his CREST project and went on to place third in the BHP Billiton Science & Engineering Competition.
Being part of the Titration Team is another activity. Previously one of our teams qualified for the National competition where they won two Gold medals.
Other options include the National Youth Science Forum, the Questacon Trainers Program, the Engineering Games and the Honeywell Engineering Summer School.
