A course for Inclusion Support Program students (ISP) that helps students build skills for adult life. Students learn how to make healthy choices, build positive relationships, plan for the future, and contribute to their community.
This is a course for students who:
- want practical life skills for work, training and everyday life
- are interested in wellbeing, respectful relationships and personal goals
- like learning through real examples, discussion and projects
About this course
Connected Learning supports students to understand themselves and others, set goals, and use reliable information to make decisions. The course focuses on balanced living, giving and meaning, positive relationships, and living independently. Assessment usually includes projects, reflections and practical tasks where students communicate ideas clearly.
Pathways
This course can support pathways into areas such as:
- community services and support roles
- health and wellbeing pathways
- workplace readiness and life skills pathways
- any pathway that benefits from communication, planning and teamwork skills
Units in this course
Students complete 2 units for a Minor or 4 units for a Major.
Finding Balance
This unit is about building healthy habits and finding balance across different parts of life (like physical, social and study habits).
Students will:
- explore what wellbeing means and what helps people stay well
- set personal goals and make a plan for healthy habits and learning routines
Giving and Meaning
This unit is about ethics, giving, and what makes life meaningful, including how people and organisations help others.
Students will:
- explore different ethical ideas and how they influence choices
- plan and manage a small project that improves a community in some way
Relationships and Communication
This unit is about respectful relationships and how communication can strengthen (or harm) relationships in different situations.
Students will:
- explore what respectful relationships look like and why they matter
- practise communication strategies for real situations (including conflict and difficult conversations)
An Independent Life
This unit is about planning for independent living, including work and life planning, money decisions, and basic household skills.
Students will:
- explore different ideas about “quality of life” and plan next steps for work and life
- learn about personal finance choices (like contracts, insurance and budgeting) and household responsibilities
