It is important to us that we work in partnership with parents and carers. Communication between home and school is key to this.
We recognise however that it can often be difficult communicating with teachers because they have a very full timetable; and that parents and carers also have very busy lives.
We will always work to get back to your enquiries within a reasonable timeframe. We aim to do this within 3 workings days. If your matter is urgent we will get back to you as quickly as possible.

Parent Portal
Parent Portal is a secure online platform used to share student information between you and your young person’s teachers.
Use Parent Portal to:
- get push notifications when your young person’s teachers post to the newsfeed
- tell us if your young person is sick or explain an absence
- book parent/teacher interviews
- receive academic reports
- receive our school newsletter 'What's On'
- make payments
- access our school’s calendar and your young person’s student timetable.
Parent Portal is used by all ACT public schools from preschool through to year 12. If you have students at other ACT public schools, you can access their information from one account.
Accessing Parent Portal
To use Parent Portal, you will need an ACT Digital Account with Level 2 identity verification.
If you already have a verified ACT Digital Account, you can use your existing login details.
If you don't have an account, visit the ACT Government Parent Portal page, select Log into Parent Portal and follow the prompts to create an account.
To verify your identity, you will need an accepted identification document, such as an Australian driver's licence, Australian passport or Medicare card. Other accepted documents are listed during the verification process.
Important: Your first name, last name and mobile number must match the details held by Gungahlin College.
Once your ACT Digital Account is set up, return to the Parent Portal login page and select Log into Parent Portal.
Sign in using your ACT Digital Account details.
When logging in for the first time, follow the prompts to verify your account using the unique code sent to your mobile phone by SMS.
We recommend bookmarking the Parent Portal website for easy access in the future.
To view your student's information, you will need an access key provided by Gungahlin College.
Your access key will have been emailed to you by the college.
Once logged in:
- Open the My Access section of Parent Portal.
- Enter the access key provided by the college.
- Follow the prompts to link your student's information.
If you already use Parent Portal for a student at another ACT public school, select Add new school before entering the Gungahlin College access key.
If you cannot find your access key, you can request that it be resent by contacting the Gungahlin College front office: gungahlincollege@ed.act.edu.au
Access Parent Portal on your phone
You can also use Parent Portal through the free Sentral for Parents app. Download it from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
