Units in this course
Students complete 2 units for a Minor or 4 units for a Major.
Sport, Fitness and Recreation Industry
This unit explores how sport, fitness and recreation organisations work, and what safe and ethical practice looks like.
Students will:
- learn about safety, legal and ethical responsibilities in sport and recreation
- plan and prepare for safe participation (including equipment and basic screening)
Applied Sport, Fitness and Recreation
This unit focuses on planning, delivering and improving sport, fitness and recreation sessions for individuals and groups.
Students will:
- plan and run sessions using leadership and instruction skills
- monitor progress and make changes to improve outcomes
Inclusive Sport, Fitness and Recreation
This unit focuses on making sport and recreation accessible for diverse participants and needs.
Students will:
- learn how to adapt activities so more people can take part
- design sessions that consider different abilities, expectations and safety needs
Community Activities and Events
This unit focuses on planning and running community sport and recreation activities and events.
Students will:
- learn event planning basics (permissions, safety planning, roles, and resources)
- deliver an event or activity and evaluate it using feedback and data
