Course information
Essential Mathematics is primarily designed for students wishing to improve their numeracy skills for employment. It provides students with the mathematical knowledge, skills and understanding to solve problems in real contexts for a range of workplace, personal, further learning and community settings. Students who received below a C in Australian Curriculum Year 10 and band 7 or below in NAPLAN 9 would be recommended to study this course.

Essential Mathematics would be suitable for students who wish to enter trades or professions where basic numeracy skills are required.
Workload expectation
Essential Mathematics requires commitment and a positive work ethic to complete the required tasks in class. Short take home assignments and a suitable level of study before tests and examinations may also be required to be completed outside class hours.
